Slade Dickson graduated from Texas Tech University in 1991 with a Bachelor of the Arts degree. After he graduated he lived in Mexico and Colombia for several years. When he returned to the United States he became a Certified Bilingual Teacher and taught in Spanish and English for five years. He obtained his School Counselors Certification in 2000 and started counseling at that time. He graduated from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor in 2001 with a Masters of the Arts degree in Psychology and has worked as a therapist since that time. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Registered Play Therapist Superviser (RPT-S) and a Certified School Counselor.
He believes that therapy is a collaborative process between the therapist, individuals, families, groups and organizations. He can help you identify goals and potential solutions to difficulties which cause emotional turmoil; seek to improve communication and coping skills; strengthen self-esteem; promote behavior change and have optimal mental health. Through therapy he can help you examine the behaviors, thoughts, feelings and interactions that are causing difficulties in your life. You can learn how to relate to others in different ways that will reduce conflict and improve interpersonal relationships. You can learn effective ways to deal with your problems by building upon personal strengths, effectively using the resources that you have and by learning new ways to help yourself and your family. He will encourage your personal growth and development in ways that foster your interest and welfare.
He works with couples, families and individuals in English and Spanish on many different issues and psychiatric diagnosis. He specializes in working with relational issues, loss, trauma, parenting, depression, anger management, oppositional behavior, abuse, divorce, play therapy, marital, ADHD and a variety of behavior issues with young children and their families.
