Licensed Professional Counselor in Austin, TX

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas as well as the state of Colorado. I am also licensed as an addictions counselor in Texas and Colorado. I have been actively studying psychology since 2005 but the study of human behavior has been a part of me since as far back as I can remember. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Northwest Nazarene University (NNU) and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from University of Denver (DU).

I am a behaviorist. Although proficient in a variety of modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered, and Motivational Interviewing, among other evidence-based modalities, I believe behavior is an integrated way of life that is subjective and unique to the individual—including myself. Integrative Psychology is not simply a job for me, it is a way of life.

My areas of expertise are in:

  • Character strengths and virtues
  • Behavioral mastery
  • Relationship building
  • Self-awareness
  • Depression
  • Grief
  • Anxiety
  • Trauma
  • Substance use/abuse
  • Addiction (Anybody can be addicted to anything)

Much like the way of Stoicism, mastering your behaviors allows you to live your life through proper measure. Applying proper measure starts by defining character.

“Character is temperament defined…”

Temperament is exhibited in your behaviors. I am a behaviorist. I observe your behaviors to help you determine authenticity to your temperaments. By determining authenticity to temperament, you can then define your temperament as character. I believe in the strength of character to achieve a life of Authentic Confidence, and thus Authentic Self.

From childhood to becoming a Marine to being a husband and a father, I have had many amazing adventures in life, and many odysseys. My experiences provide me with an openness and understanding of many life obstacles and struggles. I often say: I am a Marine who likes Little House on the Prairie. I must disclose that I am not orthodox, but I am good at what I do. I believe my skills as a behaviorist affords me a special ability to help you to be true to who you truly are.
