I received my Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Angelo State University in 1983. I received my Masters of Education in Guidance and Counseling from Angelo State University in 1990. I have been a licensed professional counselor since 1993, and I am a certified vocational counselor. I became a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist in 2010. I have 26 years experience working with students and parents as an educator and school counselor, and in private practice I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults.
I enter each counseling session with appreciation for my clients as unique individuals. Listening in an intuitive manner is important to me. While I use a rational, cognitive, behavioral approach to counseling, I am always mindful that we are spiritual beings on a journey through this life. My life experiences have helped mold and mature my counseling skills by increasing my ability to connect with my clients through common human experiences of change, loss and growth. Brief cognitive therapy, client-centered therapy, relaxation, guided imagery, and hypnosis are modalities I use to help clients make positive and lasting change.
Family is important to me. As a wife, mother, and grandmother, I am a member of a large and loving family, including many pets. I am a vegetarian, and I enjoy travel, reading, listening to music, art, and dancing. I welcome the opportunity to work with you on your life’s journey.
