I grew up in Okeene, Oklahoma - a very small town with wheat farms and rattlesnake roundups. I received a Bachelors degree in Sociology and a Masters degree in Student Personnel and Guidance in Higher Education from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.  I have been in private practice at Counselors of Texas since 1996.  I work with adult individuals and couples.  The majority of my practice has dealt with women’s issues, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, posttraumatic stress and sexual abuse.

In the beginning of the counseling relationship you will be asked to provide some background information on your life as well as the current issues that led you to seek therapy.  Though numerous therapeutic approaches are utilized, my emphasis is on cognitive behavioral therapy.  This involves changing a person’s way of negative thinking and then helping the person make some concrete changes in their actions.  There is a lot of interaction between the therapist and client to create a treatment plan to empower the client to make these changes.

On a personal note, I have been happily married for over 30 years and have two grown daughters. I love animals, reading and any water activities.  I also enjoy working on my koi water garden.
